Therapists are just…. Common sense filters

Me: yeah so I just don’t have the energy to get up and make myself a sandwich or wait for something to cook so I just. Don’t

Her: why don’t you just eat the sandwich components without putting them together

Me:

Her: you can just eat a handful of cheese and some sandwich meat. You don’t have to make a sandwich.

Me:

Me: what

Therapists finding loopholes for mental illness things is one of my favorite things about dealing with mental illness because it really helps me understand that just because a reaction is Common doesn’t mean it’s Right. Does doing dishes stress you out a lot? Buy paper plates. Do your obsessive thoughts make you worry about leaving your curling iron on so you drive home from work to check? Just put the curling iron in your purse and bring it to work with you while we work on tackling where this worry comes from. Symptom management doesn’t have to look like drudgery.

i used to go days without showering because seeing my body was so upsetting that i would end up spiraling and then i realized i could simply turn the lights out. it took some getting used to but i’ve been showering with the lights off for years and it’s now one of my favorite parts of my day.

do whatever you want nothing is real and there’s no need to inflict unnecessary suffering on yourself just to try to seem “normal”

I love this post

Hmmm

These kinds of loopholes make life so. Much. Better.

One of my favorite stories is this lady had extremely bad OCD. Every day she’d be late to work because she was convinced that her hair dryer was going to burn down the house so would always have to turn around and check it. Multiple times a day even. A bunch of doctors tied to “fix” her of that fear, until one day she got a doctor that suggested she bring the hair dryer with her. Other doctors were annoyed, saying that wasn’t a the correct way to help, but she gave it a go. When she had that fear, she’d look over and see the hair dryer unplugged in the seat next to her and was able to carry on. I think it’s such a perfect example of actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard.

That story helped me stop repeatedly checking if my front door was locked. Instead of checking that the door was locked over and over I would check my security system app. If it’s on it will alert me if the front door opens.

“…actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard” should be added to the Hippocratic Oath.

Started reading about the door and I thought they were gonna say they took the door with them

PSA: If you have had ANY contact with a bat or a bat has been in your house…

the-awkward-turt:

the-awkward-turt:

the-awkward-turt:

…if you have had ANY unprotected physical contact with a bat: You need to go get rabies shots or catch the bat (if you can safely do so) so it can be tested for rabies.

In the US bats are the most likely animal to give you rabies. A rabid bat will mindlessly bite anything it touches and their teeth are so small that many people will not notice the bites. Unless you have had a clear view of the bat the entire time and are 100000% sure it didn’t even nick you with its teeth then you should get the shots.

…if there is a bat in your house: If you did not see the bat enter and have not been observing it the entire time it was in your house you may have to go get rabies shots or catch the bat (again, only if you can do so without exposing yourself to further risk) so it can be tested.

This is especially true if you wake up and a bat is in your room (it could have bitten you while you were asleep) or if the bat has been in a room with a child or incapacitated adult (who may not be able to tell you they were bitten or notice it).

There was a tragic case of a boy who woke up with a bat in his room, shooed it out without touching it, and thought nothing of it. Later he died of rabies because the bat had bitten him in his sleep without him knowing.

RABIES IS INCURABLE ONCE YOU SHOW SYMPTOMS. If there is ever ANY question whether you may have been exposed to a rabid animal you need to go get the rabies vaccine IMMEDIATELY before the virus is able to spread inside your body.

The rabies vaccine is no longer painful stomach shots, it is now a series of normal shots in the arm over the course of several days. There is no reason to put this off if there is ANY chance you could have been exposed. Rabies is not something to mess around with. Once you show symptoms you are pretty much guaranteed an awful death within days.

Bringing this back because a kid in Florida recently died because his parents didn’t know this information and waited to take him to the hospital.

Bats are wonderful bug-eating friends and important parts of our ecosystems but they are not for touching. Stay safe!

Unfortunately bringing this post around again due to another tragic and entirely preventable rabies death in the US.

The man never even knew he had been bitten; at first everyone (doctor included) thought his stiff and achy neck was due to a pulled muscle until the worse symptoms started to show up. His wife said they would wake up with bats walking on their bed and that they regularly removed the bats from their home with their bare hands.

Always seek medical attention for any possible unprotected contact with a bat. Rabies is 99.99% fatal once you show symptoms. It is not worth the risk.

Bim’s Secret (5/?)

Authors note:

This is still Bim’s perspective

you can find Parts: 1234

Bim put his head down his cheeks still warm as he followed Oliver down the sun lit hallway. And if the time was correct on the nightstand that Bim had seen, almost eighty percent of the Egos would be in the kitchen finishing lunch. Bim glanced up and felt his face get hotter.

Dr. Iplier was standing in the entryway to the kitchen, staring open mouthed at Bim as they walked by “Are you alright Bim?” Bim nodded, shoving his hands into his sweat pockets. Don’t mention my neck. Don’t mention my neck. With a small laugh to his voice Dr. Iplier said “I’ll make sure to throw some spoons in the freezer to help with your bruises.” With an all-out laugh he turned back into the bustling kitchen.

Bim sighed walking slightly faster than Oliver to get past the kitchen that had gone quiet with a few snickers and laughter. “Were going to Dark’s office?” Bim hissed at Oliver. He nodded. With that Bim jogged down the hallway to the door. He waited, folding his arms across his chest and rested his head against the wooden door. He closed his eyes and felt the anger start to ebb away.  He felt a pricking in his eyes and he had to take a deep breath. Why are you sad Bim? He used you. You should be sad and angry that he hurt you. Not sad because you aren’t around him. Not worried that Google will never want to talk to you because you slammed the door on him. You have every right to be upset.

“Bim.” Oliver said, his voice sounding too close to Google’s voice for comfort, “Please go in.” Bim opened his eyes and opened the door. He plastered a smile on his face but froze two steps in.

“I thought you said Dark needed to see me?” Bim said turning to face Oliver who was now closing the door.

“You honestly think Blue would let me talk to you?” Oliver replied walking around the desk and sitting in Darks chair, “Especially with what just happened between you both. Dark isn’t even here to be honest. He and Wilford took the day away together.”

“My love life is none of your business.” Bim answered walking forward and sitting in one of the chairs in front of the desk.

“Bim grow up. I know you slept with my brother. I however don’t know the outcome it will have on his systems.” Oliver said rolling his eyes.

Bim crossed his arms, “What do you mean the outcome it will have on his systems?”

Oliver smirked, “Bim when an Android….for lack of a better word mates with a non-android…it changes their whole system.”

“Changes their system how?” Bim asked.

“The android acts differently. That is why the others all knew what conversation to have with you if you came to any of us.” Oliver answered a sour note in his voice.

“You mean all the andriods…don’t you?” Bim asked quietly shock rolling over him.

“Yes. Red Green Bing and myself all had a discussion once we started to notice Blue taking a liking to you. Which was not part of the plan.” Oliver said folding his hands on the desk.

Bim frowned, “It was your plan for Google to like me?”

Oliver laughed, “No the plan was to get Blue to warm up to humans more. Possibly even understand that all of mankind didn’t need to be destroyed. He is the only one that kept that primary objective once he upgraded. Red still has anger but has found joy in cooking and really enjoys some of the Egos. Green Loves working with Dr. Iplier.”

“So I threw your plan all out of what you were expecting.” Bim mused.

“Well the fact that you are a cannibal made our whole plan hard in itself,” Bim shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Oliver would know at least half the truth working for Dark, but how did he not know about me being a Wendigo? They share a common thought system they can access each other’s thoughts. How did he not know? “Blue was hell bent on his destruction so we had to come up with a plan that would make him feel like he was accomplishing his goals. The best place Red, Green and I could come up with that would have the least amount of damage to the other Ego’s was the studio. I would also be able to keep a closer eye on him there as well.”

“How’s that?” Bim asked

“I’m dating Camera Jim. How do you think I know you were carried in by Blue to your room Bim? And it would have less of an impact on the other egos because you are the smallest group of egos working together” Oliver explained

“Well I didn’t know you knew that much,” Bim answered scowling, “But King and Bing saw me too. You said Bing worked with you so I assumed he told you.”

Oliver shook his head scowling slightly himself, “Bing is working with us yes. But we have a different way of seeing the situation. He was actually the one that noticed Blue’s initial attraction to you.”

“When did he notice it?” Bim asked a small frown on his face.

“About a month ago. He optionally brought you food or other items that you would need in the studio. So my brothers and I needed to be sure. So we would have conversations about you. Whenever Blue would talk about you,” Oliver rolled his eyes, “He would get this small smile on his lips.”

“And how am I to blame for this? I don’t understand how Google liking me has messed up your plan for making him like humans more” Bim retorted. He may be mad at Google but he wasn’t a fan of how Oliver was talking about him.

“Bim he wasn’t meant to fall for you. All we wanted was for him to get used to being around people.” Oliver hissed slamming his fist on the table.

Bim glared at Oliver, “You don’t own him Oliver. Google is himself. He makes his own decisions. You have no right to him besides the fact that he is your brother.  Weather you will acknowledge it or not Google likes his job, he enjoys being in the studio. He could choose to crappy edits, but he doesn’t. So I think you did more than what you were hoping.”

“Bim I recommend you listen close and right now,” Oliver growled leaning forward over Dark’s desk, “You need to end it with Blue. If you don’t every Ego and any person I run into will know what you are.”

Bim stood crossing his arms, “You don’t own me. You don’t own anyone Oliver. And try threatening me again and Dark will know about it. I’m pretty sure that he won’t appreciate his pet telling secrets that he has been entrusted with. You think you know me, you don’t.” With that Bim turned on his heal and walked to the door. “And Oliver if you knew that I’m a cannibal why didn’t you tell Google before now? Oh that’s right you can’t tell anyone shit. That’s part of your protocol for working with Dark.” Bim left the room.

The hallways were now relatively empty as he walked back his room. Bim didn’t know if he wanted Google to be in his room or not. He was still upset at him for recording him but there was a greater reason then Oliver was explaining for him to be upset about Google liking him.

He opened the door slowly and saw Google sitting on the bed. He was fully dressed and he stared at the open window.

“Google,” Bim said softly closing the door behind him.

Google looked around to Bim, and said in a deadpan, “I took the camera out from the jacket I got you. I’m so sorry for doing that to you.”

Bim sighed and walked to his bed sitting by Google who curled his legs up and away from him, “Google, I’m not happy about it…but.” Bim leaned forward placing his hand on Google’s cheek. Google leaned into his hand closing his eyes, he slowly raised his own hand and placed it over Bim’s “We can talk it through. I need some time to think so I’ll come find you around eight?” Bim asked.

Google opened his eyes his whole body relaxing from its stiff posture, “Alright. I’ll be in the studio. I have editing to do.”  He tuned to leave but Bim caught his wrist, leaned forward and pressed his lips to Googles cheek. Google smiled softly at Bim and left the room.

~

Bim sat in his greenhouse carefully measuring out the water needed for his plant. With a soft knock in the glass door King stuck his head in, “Can I talk with you Bim.”

With his tongue between his teeth Bim carefully pored the water onto the soil, “Yeah I’ll be right out King.”

Turning away from his plants he walked outside, King and about twenty of his subjects were standing near Bim’s garden.

“They can eat the apples,” Bim offered gesturing towards the tree.

“Are you sure?” King asked looking down at the squirrels.

“Yeah go ahead.” Bim said smiling, “Today’s been a big day for them, and apples are part of the celebration.” King returned his smile and squeaked at his subjects who all began to run as fast as they could to the apple tree. “What did you want to talk about King?”

“I know Oliver’s…talk with you didn’t go very well today.” King said dropping his eyes to the floor.

Bim gritted his teeth, “If you’re here to tell me the same thing King, I’m going to tell you to shove off and shove it up your ass.”

King gracefully sunk to the grass, “Bing and I don’t agree with what he said,” King motioned to the grass next to him inviting Bim to join him, “Bing would be here with me but he felt you’d had enough of androids today.”

Bim slowly joined King on the floor, “You don’t agree with the other Googles?”

King shook his head, “You and Google started out a lot like Bing and I. Like I told you earlier today, my subjects don’t typically mate for life. So…sleeping with someone isn’t that big of a deal for me. I knew Bing was into me, so I thought it would be like the few other people I’ve slept with. But it wasn’t.”

“How not?” Bim asked

King fiddled with the ring on his left hand, “I thought it would be a once or twice kinda thing. For androids however…once they sleep with someone…that’s it. You’re their person. That is why Bing and I encouraged you to take it slow. We could see a future between you and Google, but that’s a lot to rap your mind around. It was for me at least.”

“What do you mean that’s it?” Bim asked feeling a slight panic sit in his stomach.

“For you it’s not, you’re more than free to explore other relationships and move on but for him it is. Blue Google will only ever want you. And that is a lot of responsibility to take on Bing almost killed himself trying to prove to me that I was all he wanted.” King answered.

“Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?”  Bim asked staring dumfounded.

“Cause we hopped that you wouldn’t be impulsive.” King whispered shrugging slightly.

Bim sat back on his hands; he now knew why Oliver had been so angry. I practically own Google. “I have to go.” Bim stood up and began walking towards the studio.

“Do what makes you happiest.” King said moving in front of Bim and stopping him in his tracts, “Just because…that doesn’t mean you have to choose him.”

Bim side stepped King and walked towards the studio.

~

Bim walked out of his office and looked at Google who was talking to Camera Jim. They were both taking about camera angles and a way to make this episode better.  Google had requested ten minutes and Bim was going to give it to him. He already felt sick in his stomach as it was.

“Alright Jim I have other things to take care of, can we talk about the rest of this tomorrow.” Google said disconnecting himself from the computers and holding his hand out to Camera Jim.

“Looking forward to it Blue Jim.” Camera Jim responded shaking Googles hand. As soon as he started to walk out Bim walked over to Wilford’s set. He sat in what he thought as the dead peoples chair and waited for Google to join him on the set.
