Please look at the guidelines before getting yourselves in a tiz!
RP blogs won’t be effected as erotic text is not banned
Illustrations showing nudity won’t be banned
They talk about real life photos of genitalia being taken down.
There is an appeals process of you feel you’ve been treated unfairly
You have to be constantly flaunting the new guidelines to be banned.
Please, please read the guidelines, you’re not going to disappear for posting a tiddy once!
‘kay, but what about bots literally banning photos of goddamn cats and flowers
It’s a shitshow for sure but I don’t think they’re saying it’s a perfect system. Plus, it says in the staff post that any review of content that has been flagged needs to be looked at by a human with real imsn eyes (their words) because they know bots can’t contextualise content.
Also the probable reason for all the unreasonably flagged posts recently is probably just them testing and adjusting the system:
This work requires a mix of machine-learning classification and human moderation by our Trust & Safety team.
The bot system they are using is learning as it goes before being fully implemented (remember it’s currently 3rd-4th December, NOT THE 17TH!!, so it’s not in place just yet) Right now it’s probably adapting to the content it’s served; right now it’s flagging certain undistinguished features of content so the human staff can whittle it down to focussing just on primarily photographic (NOT NECESSARILY ART OR ILLUSTRATIONS) of NSFW content as described.
There are some issues right now, but the panic of it suddenly being introduced is overthrowing actually reading the guidelines.
All memes aside, Felix (Pewdiepie) is helping support C.R.Y (Childrens Right and you) with a fundraiser to end child labor! They help build a better future by fixing the current issues that are the cause of child labor.
Even if you’re not a Pewdiepie fan, donate or share the information because it goes to an amazing cause.
He’s also having a live stream tomorrow 4p-7p UK time (or 10am CST) if you’d like to join and donate!
Subscribe to Pewdiepie might all look like one big meme at first but it’s a war between the future of YouTube for individual creators and the massive corporations who are taking over the website.
It’s not about Felix’s content anymore, or whether or not you like his work, it’s much bigger situation now.
If T Series wins, YouTube will make changes to their system that will override smaller individual creators and lean towards big companies and brands.
Don’t you already feel the effects of it? It’s gonna get worse if T Series wins.
Whether or not you like him or not, pewds represents the individuals like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye who started in their bedrooms with a video camera recording themselves for fun vs corporations with money and power and thousands of workers backing them up.
If YouTube changes their policies to suit corporations who can make videos faster, daily, and in high quality, then you can say goodbye to your favorite YouTuber stars because they’re gonna end up leaving the site because they can’t compete with corporate giants.
Do you want a YouTube ruled by corporations?
So subscribe to Pewdiepie, not because you like him or his work, but for the fact that doing so will prevent the other bad people from taking over.
Vote for the lesser evil.
Subscribe to Pewdiepie to save the other YouTubers you love.
On the early morning of december 17th im going to post the peanut butter baby, an image rich in skin tone pixels, like 50 times in a row, and get banned
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So what’s next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

Constructive Critisim: You’ve failed. Not only yourselves @staff but the whole community of tumblr. You say “freedom of expression” and yet take away that freedom from fanartists, positivity blogs, and others all in the name of making it a “safe place” for those who’re underage. You have done the complete opposite, you aren’t making it safer, you’ve made a war zone by your own hand on your own doorstep. Sadly, I will probably delete my blog, there’s no point to be in a place where “freedom” has chains.
I would have maybe gotten it if you had did an all round sweep of every tag there was. However only nuking one and completely ignoring the others (aggressive hate groups hiding behind “freedom of expression”) is not equitable in any way.
Unless you do something – You will not see me after December.
Tumblr should not ban fanart or even pictures simply because there are 2 women kissing! That’s what’s appening in my tumblr
Everyone, if you are a creator go to this website and sign up for their email course on how to grow & keep your fanbase and monetize your content. Currently lots of traffic so the website is a bit slow to load. Seriously, do it.
